1.5cm seam allowance included
Cut out all the pattern pieces.
Mark the SIDE SPLIT points using chalk or tailor’s tacks.
Finish the side seam allowances using zig-zag stitch or an overlocker.
Use zig-zag stitch or other stretch stitch throughout this project. Also ensure to use a ballpoint jersey machine needle.
Place the BACK and FRONT RIGHT SIDES together.
Pin, stitch and finish the shoulder seam allowances.
Open up the FRONT and BACK pieces with the RIGHT SIDES facing you.
Fold the ARMHOLE CUFF in half lengthways and ease around the armhole.
Pin, stitch and finish. Repeat for the other side.
Fold the NECK CUFF piece in half and stitch the short seam allowance to create a continuous loop.
Fold the NECK CUFF in half lengthways and ease around the garment neckline.
Pin, stitch and finish.
With the garment WRONG SIDES out, match the side seam allowance.
Cut in half the ribbon for the tie loops. Fold each in half and insert into the seam at the TIE LOOP insertion point.
Pin and stitch the side seams up to the SIDE SPLIT points.
With the garment RIGHT SIDES out, fold back the seam allowance of the SIDE SPLIT and topstitch in place using zig-zag stitch.
Complete the dress by creating a rolled hem on the skirt. Use either a hem foot or manually turn the hem over approx. 7mm twice and secure using the machine or slip stitches by hand.
Press the garment to complete.
