Marisa Monokini Tutorial
Begin by cutting out the pattern pieces for the necessary size.
Fold the crotch for the correct size and tape in place.
Cut out all pattern pieces.
Lay the main fabric and lining fabric RIGHT SIDES together. Lay the GUSSET on top of the FRONT piece lining up the crotch seam.
Pin the elastic around all seam allowances leaving only the area for the TIE LOOPS open.
Stitch the elastic to the seam allowance using zig-zag stitch. Leave a 10cm space unstitched as shown on the pattern.
Ensure to backstitch when finishing for the 10cm gap and when starting to stitch again after it.
Fold all TIE LOOPS in half.
Use zig-zag stitch to sew the seam allowance.
Turn RIGHT SIDES out with the seam line to the inner center.
Fold in half lengthways.
Insert the TIE LOOPS into the FRONT of the monokini, between the inner and outer fabric.
Pin and stitch the seam allowance using straight stitch.
Create the TIES by following the STRAPS AND TIES TUTORIAL.
If you have a seam turner:
Fold the TIES in half lengthways and sew the seam allowance with zig-zag stitch. Turn RIGHT SIDES out using a seam turner.
Pull the monokini RIGHT SIDES out through the open 10cm space.
Fold the seam allowance of the opening inside. Secure using small, loose overhand stitches.
Insert the TIES into the TIE LOOPS and your monokini is now complete!
