Lay the TIE BINDING over the line shown on the FRONT pattern piece RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER.

Pin in place then stitch the rectangle as shown on the TIE BINDING pattern piece, 7cm x 0.5cm.

Snip down the center of this rectangle forking at either end to the corners.

Pull the TIE BINDING through the slit to the WRONG SIDE.

Flatten the seams out and top stitch approximately 5mm around the opening to secure.

Fold the TIE in half along its width WRONG SIDES together.

Pin and stitch the length and one of the ends. Leave on end open to turn to the RIGHT SIDE.

Pull RIGHT SIDES out. Fold the open end seam allowances inside. Top stitch approximately 5mm around the entire TIE.

Lay the SLEEVE RIGHT SIDES together with the BACK.

The back of the SLEEVE pattern piece is identifiable by having the longer edge.

Repeat Step 7 for the FRONT and the SLEEVE.

Lay the FRONT and BACK RIGHT SIDES together. Align the seam allowances of the SLEEVE opening up the SLEEVE FACING.

Stitch from the SLEEVE FACING down to the hem.

Turn the garment RIGHT SIDES out.

Repeat from Step 7 for the other side.

Lay the two HOODS RIGHT SIDES together.

Match the seam allowance of the HOOD RIGHT SIDES together with that of the main garment neckline.

Pin and stitch.

Grade the seam allowances ensuring the upper seam allowance (that of the HOOD lining) is the longest and covers the others.

Top stitch around the neckline to secure.

Complete by folding the hem up 1.5cm in line with that already turned up by the FRONT facing.

Pin and stitch.

Insert the TIE from the inside out, this way the front can be pulled tight to the body while the back can remain open as a Jedi’s cloak normally is.
