Bulging Thigh or Hips

Cut up to the hipline from the hemline. Keep parallel to the side seam. Move this piece out the desired amount and then re-draw the side seam.

Flat Derriere

To alter the pattern to fit snugly around the back, cut directly down the back dart to the hemline and then cut the hipline from the inner pattern piece. Overlap both pieces, shortening and bringing in the pattern the required amount. Re-draw the seam-lines smoothly. The dart will be smaller than before.

Flat Side Hip

Excess fabric on the side hip can be folded out easily from the side seam of the pattern. Ensure to fold out the amount in a straight line parallel to the center front/back seam.

Protruding Abdomen

If the garment is pulling tight around the tummy, cut straight through the center of the front dart down to the hem line. Then cut straight across the hipline. Rearrange to allow more space and then re-draw the pattern piece. The dart will be larger than before.

Protruding Derriere

To alleviate tightness around the back of the skirt, cut directly though the back dart to the hem line and across the hipline. Open up the pattern to the required amount. Re-draw the seam lines and darts.
