Print the pattern piece, ensure to stick the pages together before attempting to cut any of the pieces out.
Begin by cutting out pieces.
Use zig zag stitch throughout this project or another stretch stitch.
Lay the main FRONT and BACK pieces right sides together. Pin and stitch the shoulder seams. Finish with an over locker or zig-zag.
Fold the SLEEVE CUFF piece in half along the dashed lines and pin onto the SLEEVE. Stitch and finish the seam allowance. Repeat for both sleeves.
Pin the SLEEVE right sides together with the FRONT and BACK, easing it into the armscye. Stitch and finish the seam. Repeat for the left side.
Pin and stitch from the SLEEVE CUFF to the end of the leg of the FRONT. Finish the seam. Repeat for the other side.
Fold the LEG CUFF piece in half along the dashed lines and ease onto the leg ends of FRONT and BACK. Finish the seam allowance.
Pin and stitch the inner leg seam allowance of FRONT and BACK together. Finish the seam allowance.
Fold the BUTTON FLAP in half along the dashed line RIGHT SIDES together. Stitch the top and bottom short end seam allowances together. Trim the seam allowances.
Turn RIGHT SIDES out.
Match the raw edges of the BUTTON FLAP to the seam allowance of one side of the top centre back. Pin and stitch 1.5cm down from the neckline.
Lay the two BACK pieces RIGHT SIDES together. (Try inserting one leg inside the other, this is often much easier to match the center seam allowances). Pin and stitch the center back, crotch and FRONT to the other half of the garment.
Secure your stitches with a few backstitches and then switch to a large machine stitch from the ZIP END POINT and complete sewing the center back up to the neckline. These are temporary stitches and will be removed after the zip is inserted.
Turn the garment WRONG SIDES out. Open up the centre back seam allowance and lay the zip along it, matching the zip teeth to the seamline.
Pin one side of the zip tape to the corresponding seam allowance. Stitch using a zip foot. Sew only through the zip tape and the seam allowance. Repeat for the other side.
Turn the garment RIGHT SIDES out.
Ensure to backstitch over the point where the zip meets the ZIP END POINT on the garment. Trim any excess zip tape.
Use small sharp scissors to unpick the large stitches along the center front to reveal the zip.
Fold the ZIP GUARD in half along the dashed line RIGHT SIDES together. Stitch the top and bottom short end seam allowances together.
Turn RIGHT SIDES out.
Match the raw edges of the ZIP GUARD to the seam allowance of one side of the zip opening. Sew directly on to the seam allowance next to the zip teeth.
Complete the garment by attaching the NECKLINE CUFF.
Fold it in half along the dashed lines WRONG SIDES TOGETHER. Tuck the seam allowance either end to the inside.
Ease the NECKLINE CUFF around the garment neckline and pin in place.
Stitch and finish the seam allowance as before.
