Fido Sweater Tutorial

STEP 1:

Skip this step if you plan to not use the HOOD:

Lay the HOOD pieces RIGHT SIDES together. Pin and stitch around the center back seam allowance.

Ensure to use a ballpoint jersey machine needle.

STEP 2:

Take the HEM CUFF, fold it in half lengthways and stitch the seam allowance to form a complete loop.

If you are not adding the hood, repeat this step for the NECKLINE CUFF.

STEP 3:

Fold the SLEEVE CUFF in half along its width.

Ease onto the end of the SLEEVE. Pin and stitch.

STEP 4:

Repeat STEP 3 for the HOOD CUFF.

Skip this Step if you are not using the HOOD.

STEP 5:

Match the shoulder seams of the BACK and FRONT RIGHT SIDES together.

Pin and stitch in place.

STEP 6:

Open up the FRONT and BACK RIGHT SIDES towards you.

Ease the SLEEVE head on to the arm opening. Lay the SLEEVE RIGHT SIDES together with the FRONT and BACK. Pin to the underarm points of the side seams and the center of the SLEEVE head to the shoulder point. Ease the rest in.

Stitch and finish the seam allowance using zig zag stitch or an overlocker.

STEP 7:

With the garment WRONG SIDES out, lay the FRONT and BACK RIGHT SIDES together.

Pin, stitch, trim and finish from the SLEEVE CUFF to the hem along the side seam.

STEP 8:

WITH HOOD:
Take the HOOD. Overlap CUFF sections onto each other.

Match center front and center back points of the HOOD to the FRONT and BACK sections. Do this by folding the garment in half and adding pins to mark the points. Repeat for the HOOD then match the pins together.

Pin and stitch in place.

WITHOUT HOOD:
Apply the NECKLINE CUFF by folding in half along the width then easing around the neckline. Pin and stitch in place.

STEP 9:

Apply the HEM CUFF by folding in half along the width and easing around the hemline. Pin and stitch in place.
