Also called a ‘thread chain’. A ruhadarabok laza összetartására szolgál. Kevésbé tartós, mint egy menetrúd, ehelyett lágyabb. Alkalmasak rétegek összetartására, mint például a szoknyarétegek. Rendszerint 1-5 cm hosszúak. Használható horgok szemének létrehozására is.

French tacks are hand-crocheted chains. Anchor the thread in the required area bringing it to the right side to have the tack. Backstitch and leave a loop of thread. Hold the loop open with forefinger and thumb, hold loose thread with forefinger and thumb of other hand and pass through the loop, pull thread through with middle finger causing another loop. Allow first loop to slip off thumb and finger and over new loop, pulling taut. When desired length is reached, secure the end to the adjoining fabric.
