Chef Hat Tutorial
Press the Band in half along the fold line.
With the Band Wrong Side out pin the facing into the seam allowance at both ends. Stitch and clip the corner. Turn Right Sides out and press.
Cut two pieces of velcro 2.5cm long. Separate the pieces and apply either the coarse of soft pieces to one end of the Band and the other pieces to the other end. One set must be pinned to the RS and one set to the WS so they can match up once the band is closed.
Using the biggest stitch on your sewing machine, sew all the way around the Cap within the seam allowance and without securing with a knot or backstitch.
Insert a pin where you began stitching and secure one of the threads with a figure of eight around the pin. Gently gather the Cap by holding the end of the loose stitch and pulling. Gather the Cap to match the width on the Band.
With the velcro of the Band together, pin the Band onto the Cap.
Remembering to adjust the stitch length to a smaller one, stitch in place and remove the gathering stitches. Finish the seam allowance with zig zag stitch or an overlock stitch.
To finish, top stitch close to the upper edge of the Band while catching the inner seam allowance.
