Heidi Rose Flower Bridesmaid Dress Tutorial
Cut out the pattern pieces out. You will need two each of the Front and Back. One set will form the lining.
Lay the two Front pieces Right Sides together.
Pin and stitch the armhole, shoulder and neckline seam allowances.
Fold the Back pieces Right Sides together.
Pin and stitch the armhole, shoulder and necklines.
Clip the seam allowances of the armhole and necklines of the Front and Back pieces. Also clip the corners of the shoulder seams.
Turn Front and Back pieces RS out. Press.
Using the button placement lines on the pattern as a guide, mark out the location for your buttons and buttonholes.
Sew buttonholes and buttons in place.
Create french seams on the side and shoulder seams;
Lay the Front and Back RS together.
Pin the side and shoulder seams together and sew a 5mm seam.
Press the seam allowance towards the back.
With the Front and Back RS together stitch a 1cm seam allowance to conceal the previous 5mm.
Press seams open to complete.
To cut the skirt, take your square of fabric and fold it four times as shown.
Lay the skirt pattern, smallest end closest to the folded points. Align the pattern piece so it fits evenly across the fabric.
Simply cut across the top and bottom curves.
Match the two Back button stands together. They will overlap by 3cm.
Open up the Skirt and lay RS together with the bodice.
Pin the Skirt to the bodice
Create a rolled hem on the skirt. Fold the hem back 75mm, then fold back once more 75mm to conceal the raw edge. Hem stitch by hand or sew on the machine to secure.
Follow the Roses Tutorial to create the flowers to adorn the neckline.
You may choose to sew individual petals to the hem also. To do this secure a length of thread to the hem. Thread a petal on making one stitch in and out of the centre. Pass the thread through the rolled hem and out again close to the previous petal. Repeat until you have completed the length of the hem.
Hand sew the roses equal distance apart around the Front neckline. For the younger sizes you may need only 5 roses. Increase for the older sizes to suit your preference.
To complete the Headband please find the Heidi Headband Tutorial.
The roses on the dresses in the images are made from Set 2 from the Roses PDF pattern.
