Begin by applying the elastic trim to the upper seam allowance of the BACK.
Place RIGHT SIDES together with the BACK, use a zig zag stitch to secure and pull slightly taut as you sew.
In the same way apply elastic trim to the BACK SHOULDER if you haven’t placed the edge on a lace detail.
Use a zig-zag or other stretch stitch throughout this project.
Place the BACK SHOULDER lower seam allowance up to the back insert mark on the BACK seam allowance previously finished with the elastic trim.
Top stitch to secure.
Lay the FRONT SHOULDER RIGHT SIDES together with the FRONT.
Pin starting from the neckline down.
Stitch and finish the seam allowance using a zig zag stitch or an overlocking stitch.
Insert the SLEEVE, RIGHT SIDES together with the armscye.
Ease the SLEEVE head in, pinning in place starting from the under arm and centre points.
Stitch and finish the seam allowance as before.
Create a rolled hem on the lower garment seam allowance. Use either a hem foot or manually roll the hem folding approx. .5mm over twice before securing with zig zag stitch.
Complete the neckline by cutting a length of elastic trim approx. 80cm long.
Begin applying the trim RIGHT SIDES together with the garment leaving 20cm free at the centre back point to create the first tie.
Gently apply the trim using zig zag stitch and pulling a little taut while avoiding stretching the jersey fabric.
Trim the second tie to match the length of the first.
Trim the seam allowance close to the elastic trim, then fold to the WRONG side and top stitch to secure and neaten the edge.
