A decorative stitch used to create gathers. It is also known as ‘seed stitch’.

Mark with rows of dots where each stitch should go. Alternate between each row as follows; anchor thread at first stitch mark. Bring to right side. Take a small stitch at the second mark, then return thread to first mark and make another small stitch. Draw up tightly, take needle under the fabric and draw out at the next mark on the second row. Repeat procedure then take thread under fabric and back up to the first row for the next stitch.
